The microstructure is composed of micron-sized spherical carbides surrounded by tempered martensite matrix. The spheroidizing annealing process transforms the lamellar cementite in GCr15 bearing steel into spherical shape by means of segregation eutectoid transformation, which greatly improves the toughness and workability of the material.
